We had a very good squad in the 60s, Moore, Hurst, Peters and Brooking etc, won two trophies plus the World Cup

it's close to the late 90s/early 2000s squad. just need a couple more quality options up front, cover for Declan and at left back

The early 80's squad was very good when they were in full flow...some of the signings to add to it were a bit hit and miss...but the first XI were quality

Early 80s team / squad was the best. How can you better a line up including Brooking, Devonshire, Bonds, Alvin, Frank Snr, Parkes, Goddard, Cross, Van der Elst, Stewart, et al.
God that was a good team.

I think another transfer window for MP and the squad will be even better. He's had a full season to look at the squad and any kids he sees with potential to move into the squad.

Next season, all being well, I reckon could be a very exciting one.
It is a shame that Arnautovic wants to fuck off but I like how we are just taking it in our stride with the expectation (hope!) that we can replace him with better.

1980-83 best team of players we ever had, underachievers... but then it obviously has to be 85/86.
But Di Canio, Rio, Lampard, Carrick, Kanouté Sinclair was good football... eben for the Harry haters it was.

I am extremely positive about this sqaud, and have been very forthright with my views defending their qualities, as well as defending Manuel Pellegrini. And, POTENTIALLY, this is the best ever squad.
Its early days still, and we're all aware of how we live in an era where its very easy to be a victim of our own success, i,e have our best players taken off us by the established elite.
There is still a massive job to be done in order for us to sustain what we are seeing at the moment. The board will have to keep showing us the colour of their money, for this to continue.

If we're talking 'squad' then yes, this is by far away the best/strongest ever
If we're talking 'team' then the team on 1983 takes a bit of beating

Not surprised to see that quite a few share my affection for the 1980-83 team - don't forget in 83/84 we were destroying loads of teams and won 5 in a row at the beginning...and were still second at the end of January but then for some strange reason (injuries?) we only won 2 out of the last 15 games and finished 9th. I was never convinced by Dave Swindlehurst either.
The 85/86 team with Frankie Mac and Cottee up front finished 3rd but the season before we almost went down...

As far as squads are concerned, then yes. We've already had 21 players playing at least 6 games this season! In 1985/6 that was just 14 playing that amount as a minimum, and 1982/3 it was 16.

Would have to be, particularly if everyone was fit and available, LB maybe the only real weak spot right know if everyone available, although Cresswell have improved markedly in recent games.
